So far OHSU has disqualified two people from being a donor. I have requested the next two on the list to call OHSU, since they will only talk to/process two at a time. Trying really hard to be hopeful, but time wears you down. 4 years in March. A wait longer than most, shorter than some.
But, I am thankful for y'all that hang in there with me- I know that time wears on you, too. Thank you. Thank you.
We have to make a pretty critical decision soon, if the few left to be tested are disqualified. There is an organization called Matching Donors (matchingdonors.org) who work to match recipients with potential donors. Something in me is hesitant about using them, and has been for a few years. These are complete strangers.
Now, I completely realize that most of the people so far that have been tested are strangers as well. But somehow, the fact that they have come to us by reading the blog / twitter / FB of someone I do know means something in my heart.
I don't know.
But, making the commitment to use the services of MD is expensive- they charge the recipient a rather large "Lifetime Membership" fee. So it is nothing we jump into lightly. But, if we have to go there eventually, then life is wirth the price of admission.
Please be praying for us, the potential donors, my babies, and each of you. We are all on this path together and I want us all to be safe through the process- heart, mind and souls.
And if you could, please take a minute to read this post by Crystal, someone whose life has been directing affected by the gift of an organ transplant.
