I'm STILL! HOME!
Thanks for coming.
Bye now.
Ok- kidding...
First off, a HUGE! THANK ! YOU! to Laurel for the beautiful daisies she sent me today :) I'd post a picture of them if I had a clue where the camera was. Let's just say, I was gone a week. I've cleared a path to the bed and the fridge. Oh, and the dialysis supplies. Other than that, the kids are taller than the mess, so I see them here and there.
In celebration of me being home, the Internet went down Saturday. With a husband that works at home, and two kids that homeschool online- you do the math. We were able to get online in Jonathan's room with a wee little connection, attached to some accommodating neighbor's unsecured network. It was about the same speed as dialup, but something. Thank you unsuspecting neighbor. They got us up and running this afternoon for about, oh, 2 minutes, then again finally a couple hours later.
The updates are:
- I'm going to be on one antibiotic for at least three weeks for the pasteurella bacteria. They call it a "virulent" bacteria.
- I'm going to be on the second antibiotic for about the same, as a preventative against spreading infections
- If the peritonitis re-occurs, it's surgery time. They'll remove the belly catheter and put in a temp access near my heart for hemo. We will have to wait at least 3-4 months before we consider re-inserting the PD cath.
- We are still waiting for the Infectious Disease guy to contact my doctor. He was back from vacation today. He'll have the final word on if I near anymore treatment for the pasteurella bacteria. He may say surgery regardless. Let's think Happy Thoughts against that, shall me?
- I'm still landlocked in the house. Until my immune system has a chance to rest, I'm prone to catching any and everything. So, my only solace is trips in the car, through the drive-thru to get tea.
- Because the gentomycin I'm on can become toxic if levels get too high, and because my red cell count is so low, I have to go to the lab every other day and get blood work done. To do that, I get to wear this really attractive yellow mask. It's a fashion statement in the making. (If anyone is interested, I have extras. Let me know)
- I'm sleeping alot, and the house is a disaster. La la la la la ... I can't HEAR you.
The doctor did make one request- Next time, please get something we deal with 12 times a day.
M'kay, I'm on it.
Cause you know I'm planning on doing this again.
Really, darn soon.
